Is skateboarding illegal where you live? why is it illegal?

I moved to Irvine half a year ago and i havnt skated for about a year. Then i decided to get back to skateboarding just to find out that it's illegal in ALL public spaces. WHAT THE HELL! i mean i wouldnt complain if they ban it at school or college campus but even public parks??
