Islam and christian holidays?

ok i just converted to islam a few days ago alhumdiallah anyway easter is coming up and so is christmas (not so soon) anyway how should i handle that by all means god comes first but at the same time my family is christian and i have to handle there reactions and there traditions as well so would it be acceptable to (i don't want to say celebrate) but be with family and partake in the celebrations as well im not saying the religious side im saying the recreational side by all means i believe that jesus should be loved and respected but im not sure what to do or what would be appropriat e
