How do i upload videos to youtube faster?

I make them with imvie. Lately, it' taken sooooo long to upload. In fact, it has taken so long I've aborted thte process and tried to start again. I have a high speed connection and videos don't take any time at all to load when I'm watching. Just I'm trying to upload a 7 minute video and it took 3 hours to upload half of it. I made a new youtube account so I'm trying to get my first video on there. I have a macintosh computer iMac that we bought in december 2006. Please tell me what is the problem and how I can fix it. Or, you can tell me a faster way to upload them. Thanks soooooo much.
